Madal is an instrument which has the dayan (smaller side) same as a tabla, and the bayan (bigger side) of a khol (mridanga). This combination creates a special and unique sound having the sweetness of a tabla and the power of a mridanga. It is mainly used in bhajans e kirtans. The clay body gives a better sound in comparison to a wood body, and is also more light to carry it everywhere without any problem.
